Authorities in Junagadh have taken into custody a woman suspected of being a Bangladeshi national who allegedly operated under multiple assumed identities across the district. The suspect, initially identified as residing in the Madhuram area, is believed to have used at least two different names—including Mithila Roy and Khalida Begum—while maintaining fraudulent documentation.
Investigators discovered the scheme through e-commerce transaction records and shopping receipts that revealed inconsistencies in personal details and identity documents. The woman possessed multiple forged Aadhaar cards bearing different names, a key finding that triggered a comprehensive inquiry into her background and activities.
The suspect is currently undergoing questioning at a Sakhi Centre, a support facility for women, as investigators work to establish the full scope of the alleged fraud and determine whether she operated as part of a larger network. Officials are examining whether the false identities were used for financial transactions, unauthorized access to government schemes, or other criminal purposes.
The case highlights vulnerabilities in identity verification systems at e-commerce platforms and government agencies. Authorities say they are working to trace all transactions associated with the various identities to determine if additional individuals were involved or defrauded through the scheme.
