IPOH, Sept 8 — Government hospitals across Perak are experiencing significant congestion partly due to patients presenting at facilities earlier than necessary, according to the state's health executive councillor.
The official highlighted that elderly patients arriving with family members have intensified pressure on hospital resources, creating bottlenecks in admission and treatment processes. Early arrivals without critical medical needs are consuming bed capacity and stretching staff resources during peak hours.
The health department has not announced specific measures to address the issue, though the acknowledgment suggests authorities are examining patient flow management strategies. Hospital administrators are reportedly reviewing triage protocols and admission procedures to better manage arriving patients.
The congestion challenges come as Perak's healthcare system continues to manage patient demand across multiple facilities. Health authorities have previously encouraged residents to utilise primary care services and outpatient clinics for non-emergency concerns to reduce pressure on hospital departments.
