East Coast Rail Link passenger service launches at RM125 fare

The East Coast Rail Link will launch passenger services starting mid-December with fares beginning at RM125, marking a significant milestone for the major infrastructure project connecting Malaysia's east coast region. The service introduction represents the completion of years of development and construction on the rail corridor.

Operating schedules will vary throughout the week to accommodate passenger demand patterns. From Monday through Thursday, the ECRL will run 12 daily services, while weekend and Friday operations will be expanded to 16 services per day to cater to increased travel during leisure periods.

The introductory fare of RM125 is positioned to attract early adopters and establish the service's market presence. The pricing strategy reflects efforts to make rail travel accessible while generating revenue for the newly operational corridor.

The ECRL represents a major transportation development for the region, offering an alternative to road travel and enhancing connectivity along Malaysia's eastern seaboard. The service launch is expected to facilitate both passenger mobility and economic activity across the corridor's service area.
