TACLOBAN CITY — Authorities in Guiuan, Eastern Samar have alerted the public to prepare for extreme heat conditions expected to grip the municipality, with heat index readings forecast to reach 40 degrees Celsius.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) classified the anticipated weather pattern as falling under the "extreme caution" category. The advisory warns residents of heightened risk for heat-related health emergencies as hot and humid conditions persist across the municipality.

Local government officials are urging residents to limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours, ensure adequate hydration, and monitor vulnerable populations including children, the elderly, and those with existing health conditions. The MDRRMO recommended staying indoors when possible and seeking air-conditioned spaces.

The advisory coincides with the country's hot season, when heat index readings across various regions regularly exceed dangerous thresholds. Residents are advised to watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and to seek immediate medical attention if needed.
