TACLOBAN CITY — Police in Eastern Visayas are investigating a surge in school-related threats in the aftermath of a June 22 shooting at San Jose National High School that claimed three lives and wounded 20 others.
The Philippine National Police reported at least 16 online threats directed at schools throughout the region since the incident, according to a statement released Thursday. Many of the threats prompted school administrators to implement additional security protocols and in some cases, suspend classes temporarily.
The spike in threats has intensified concerns about school safety among parents and educators in the Visayas region. Police have urged the public to report any suspicious activity or credible threats to local authorities immediately.
Investigations into the June 22 shooting and the subsequent threats remain ongoing. School officials are working with law enforcement to implement preventive measures and maintain a secure learning environment for students and staff.
