ECI modifies declaration form during Bihar's Special Summary Revision process

The Election Commission of India has clarified that modifications to declaration procedures were made as part of the Special Summary Revision (SIR) process in Bihar, which commenced last year. According to ECI officials, a three-member commission approved the introduction of a separate declaration form to accompany Forms 6 and 8 when the SIR process began.

The modified declaration framework was ratified during the initial phase of the revision exercise and subsequently reaffirmed in its second and third phases, officials said. The changes were implemented to streamline the voter registration and revision process across the state.

The Special Summary Revision is a periodic exercise conducted by the Election Commission to update electoral rolls by identifying and removing ineligible voters while adding eligible citizens. The inclusion of the separate declaration form represents an operational adjustment to enhance the efficiency of this process in Bihar.

Election officials stated that all procedural modifications were approved through the established institutional channels and applied consistently throughout the various phases of the Bihar revision exercise.
