ECRL Gombak station to get temporary walkway for December launch
The East Coast Rail Link's Gombak station will open with a temporary pedestrian connection to the adjacent LRT station in December, with a permanent covered link bridge to follow by March 2027.

KUALA LUMPUR — Passengers using the new East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Gombak station will initially access the neighbouring LRT station via a temporary walkway when the rail service launches in December, authorities have confirmed.
The interim pedestrian connection will serve commuters during the station's opening phase, providing basic connectivity between the two transport hubs. This temporary arrangement allows the ECRL to meet its scheduled December 2024 launch timeline without delays.
A permanent covered link bridge connecting the ECRL Gombak station directly to the LRT station is targeted for completion by March 2027. The enclosed bridge will offer weather protection and improved accessibility for passengers transferring between the two rail networks.
The ECRL Gombak station is one of several key stops along the 665-kilometre rail corridor designed to enhance freight and passenger connectivity between Klang Valley and the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The phased approach to infrastructure development reflects efforts to balance project timelines with construction quality.
Commuters are advised to note that the temporary walkway arrangement will remain in effect during the interim period before the permanent covered bridge is operational.
