Ecuador names Gallardo as new national football coach
Marcelo Gallardo has been appointed as head coach of Ecuador's national football team, taking over following Sebastian Beccacece's departure. Beccacece's contract was not renewed after Ecuador's elimination from the World Cup in June.

The Ecuador Football Federation confirmed Gallardo's appointment to lead the South American nation's national squad. Gallardo, an experienced tactician from the region, steps into the role vacated by Beccacece, who guided Ecuador through their World Cup campaign earlier this year.
Beccacece's tenure ended following Ecuador's disappointing exit from the tournament in the round of 32, when the team fell to Mexico. Despite initial progress in qualifying, the South American side failed to advance past the group stage of the competition.
Gallardo brings extensive experience in managing top-tier football teams across South America. His appointment comes as Ecuador seeks to rebuild following the World Cup disappointment and prepare for upcoming continental and qualifying fixtures.
