The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted coordinated raids across multiple locations associated with Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan in Uttar Pradesh as part of an ongoing investigation. The searches targeted premises belonging to Khan's trust and university, along with offices of connected business entities and their promoters.
According to official sources, the operation extended to Saharanpur, where the ED searched the office of a chartered accountant allegedly linked to the trust. Two companies and their promoters, who maintain financial ties with Khan's charitable foundation, were also covered under the simultaneous raids.
The ED's action is part of its examination into financial transactions and fund management related to the trust and its associated entities. Officials are investigating the flow of funds and compliance with regulatory requirements governing charitable organisations and educational institutions.
Khan, a prominent opposition figure and three-time legislator, has faced multiple investigations in recent years on various matters. The current ED operation marks the latest in a series of regulatory actions targeting the SP leader's financial and institutional interests.
