The Enforcement Directorate has raised concerns about the financial dealings of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University Trust in a fresh attachment order, questioning the legitimacy of donations received by the institution. According to the ED's findings, the trust—founded and controlled by prominent Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan—accepted contributions from what the agency termed "non-genuine sources."
The ED investigation suggests that some donations were channelled through mechanisms involving political influence, with references to SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav's role in facilitating certain contributions. The federal agency's action marks an escalation in its probe into potential money laundering and financial irregularities connected to Khan and his associated entities.
The attachment order represents the ED's attempt to secure assets and prevent the dissipation of funds that the agency believes may have originated from illicit sources. The development comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Khan's financial dealings and business interests by various central agencies.
Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, located in Uttar Pradesh, has been the subject of regulatory scrutiny in the past. The latest ED action underscores concerns about donation management practices and governance at educational institutions, particularly those linked to prominent political figures.
