ED raids former CM's aide in VPDO exam irregularities probe

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday searched the premises of Chandan Singh Jeena, who served as personal assistant to former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, as part of its investigation into irregularities in a 2016 Village Panchayat Development Officer (VPDO) examination.

During the raid at Jeena's residence, the ED seized cash totalling ₹32 lakh that could not be accounted for, along with 13 gold coins and seven gold chains weighing approximately 200.5 grams. The agency also recovered 12 luxury wristwatches of high-end international brands from the premises.

The searches are linked to alleged malpractices in the 2016 VPDO recruitment examination conducted by the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission. The ED has been investigating the case as part of its broader probe into financial irregularities connected to the recruitment process.

The recovery of unaccounted valuables from Jeena's residence marks a significant development in the agency's investigation. The ED has not disclosed further details regarding the source of the seized items or additional suspects being investigated in the matter.
