The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued another summons to C Vijayabaskar, a prominent leader of the Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) and former minister in the AIADMK government, as part of its ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in his assets.
This is the second time the senior politician has been summoned by the central investigative agency. The fresh summons comes as the ED continues its probe into the matter, which reportedly centers on questions regarding the accumulation and declaration of his financial holdings.
Vijayabaskar, who previously served as a minister in the all-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) administration, is expected to cooperate with the investigation. The ED typically issues multiple summons during the course of its probe when it requires clarification on specific matters or additional documentation from individuals under investigation.
The investigation is part of the agency's broader mandate to examine cases of alleged money laundering and unexplained wealth generation. As the probe progresses, additional summons or questioning may be expected from the investigating agency.
