ED uncovers ₹60 crore irregularities at TMC MP-linked media outlet

The Enforcement Directorate has alleged discovery of ₹60 crore in financial irregularities at a media entity linked to Trinamool Congress MP Nadimul Haque, following marathon searches across multiple premises. The operation commenced on the morning of September 7 and concluded the following day, representing one of the agency's extended investigative actions targeting media-linked entities in recent months.

Searches were conducted at locations associated with both Haque and his media organisation. The ED's preliminary findings indicate substantial accounting discrepancies and potential financial violations, though the agency has not yet released detailed specifics regarding the nature of the irregularities identified during the 24-hour operation.

The action marks an escalation in the central agency's scrutiny of media entities with political connections in eastern India. The Enforcement Directorate has increasingly focused on financial compliance at news organisations, citing concerns over money laundering and violation of foreign exchange norms.

The investigation remains ongoing, with the ED expected to file formal charges once its examination of seized documents and financial records is completed. Haque has not yet made public statements regarding the allegations.
