ED uncovers financial trail in Karnataka veterinary exam fraud case

The Enforcement Directorate's probe into the KPSC veterinary officers examination scam has identified a financial network involving bank transfers, gold purchases and cash transactions tied to the alleged fraud.

According to the ED's investigation, candidates were solicited to pay between ₹30 lakh and ₹40 lakh each after initial demands of approximately ₹80 lakh. These payments were reportedly made in exchange for access to leaked examination question papers and correct answers, the agency said.

The investigation has traced the movement of funds through multiple financial channels, indicating a sophisticated money trail connected to the examination fraud. The ED's findings suggest organized coordination in collecting payments from multiple candidates and subsequent fund transfers.

The case highlights vulnerabilities in competitive examination procedures and the involvement of criminal networks in exploiting candidates seeking government positions. The ED's financial investigation is expected to provide further insights into the scope and organization of the alleged scam.

The Karnataka Public Service Commission had earlier faced scrutiny over examination irregularities. The ongoing ED investigation is likely to expand as authorities seek to identify all parties involved in the scheme and recover proceeds of the alleged fraud.
