The Export Development Board (EDB) has rolled out an artificial intelligence workshop programme designed to support small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) exporters operating in the Kandy district. The capacity-building initiative, supported by Habib Bank, forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the export sector's technological capabilities.

The workshop focused on introducing AI applications and digital solutions relevant to export-oriented businesses, enabling SME operators to better understand how emerging technologies can streamline operations and improve market performance. Participants gained insights into practical AI tools applicable to their respective industries and export processes.

Habib Bank's partnership with the EDB reflects growing recognition among financial institutions of the need to support digital transformation in Sri Lanka's export sector. The collaboration underscores efforts to bridge the technology adoption gap among smaller businesses that often lack resources for independent innovation initiatives.

The EDB has positioned the Kandy workshop as part of its wider strategy to build human capital and technological capacity across regional export clusters. Additional similar initiatives are expected to reach exporters in other parts of the country as the Board continues its outreach to SME communities.
