MANILA — Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon announced Monday that private vehicles will be temporarily allowed to use the EDSA Busway from Nepa Q-Mart to Boni Avenue stations effective immediately. The decision accommodates ongoing road resurfacing and maintenance operations along the affected corridor.
The temporary arrangement is scheduled to remain in effect for approximately two weeks, pending completion of the road work. During this period, private cars will share the dedicated busway with public transport vehicles, a departure from the typical exclusive-use policy of the transit lane.
The EDSA Busway, a key component of Metro Manila's public transportation infrastructure, normally restricts access to authorized buses and vehicles. The temporary opening to private traffic aims to mitigate congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow throughout the maintenance phase.
Commuters and motorists in the area are advised to expect potential delays and to exercise caution while traversing the affected stations. The Department of Transportation has not disclosed additional details regarding traffic management measures during the maintenance period.
