Malaysia's Education Minister has reiterated assurances that no Tamil-medium schools will face closure, addressing persistent concerns among the Tamil education community about the future of vernacular institutions.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has issued a firm statement rejecting reports that Tamil-medium schools in Malaysia face imminent closure, underscoring the need to repeatedly clarify government policy on the matter.
The minister's reassurance comes amid lingering misconceptions within Tamil school communities regarding the government's stance on vernacular education. Despite previous announcements, concerns continue to circulate among stakeholders about potential threats to Tamil-medium institutions.
"There is a need to reiterate this position because some segments of the Tamil school community still harbour doubts," Fadhlina said, emphasizing the government's commitment to preserving Tamil-medium education as part of Malaysia's multilingual education ecosystem.
The clarification forms part of ongoing efforts by the Education Ministry to maintain confidence among vernacular school administrators, educators, and parents. Tamil-medium schools, known locally as SJKT (Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil), serve a significant portion of Malaysia's Indian and minority ethnic communities.
The minister's statement aims to dispel misinformation and reinforce government support for the continued operation of all Tamil schools across the nation.
