Education Ministry urges early screening for autism and learning disorders
Malaysia's Education Ministry is calling on parents to seek early assessments for their children to identify autism, ADHD and learning difficulties. Early intervention is critical for supporting children's development, the ministry said.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has urged parents to prioritise early screening of their children for autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other learning difficulties. Speaking in Gua Musang, the ministry emphasised that identifying these conditions at an early stage enables timely intervention and better support for affected children. The initiative aims to ensure children with developmental or learning challenges receive appropriate assistance to maximise their potential in the education system. Parents are encouraged to consult healthcare professionals and educational specialists if they observe developmental delays or behavioural concerns in their children. The Education Ministry said early detection and intervention programmes can significantly improve learning outcomes and social integration for children with these conditions. The appeal forms part of broader efforts to create an inclusive education environment that caters to the diverse needs of Malaysian learners.
