A coordinated drug bust in Iloilo province has resulted in the arrest of eight suspects and the seizure of approximately P3.37 million worth of suspected shabu, authorities said Wednesday. The operation took place in Barangay Botongon, Estancia town, during a controlled buy-bust transaction on Tuesday afternoon.
Anti-narcotics agents launched the joint operation at approximately 2:10 p.m., targeting drug trafficking activities in the coastal municipality. In addition to the confiscated methamphetamine, operatives recovered an illegal firearm during the enforcement action.
The eight individuals taken into custody are expected to face charges related to illegal drug trafficking and possession of unlicensed firearms. Authorities are continuing investigations into the drug distribution network in the region. The case underscores ongoing intensified anti-drug operations across the Visayas as part of broader national narcotics enforcement efforts.
