Eight booked after tourist assaulted at Pune fort over clothing

Police in Pune registered a case against eight members of a right-wing organization following an assault on a tourist at a city fort on Sunday. The altercation allegedly began when members of the group took exception to the woman's clothing, specifically her shorts, and confronted her.

According to police statements, the group's conduct extended beyond the initial incident with the tourist. Officers said the members also verbally accosted another couple at the site and attempted to enforce moral standards regarding their appearance.

The case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code following a complaint filed by the assaulted tourist. Police said the group's actions constituted unlawful assembly and criminal intimidation.
