Eight packages of the Pan Borneo Highway project in Sabah will be ready for public use before the end of 2024, according to Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joachim Gunsalam. The staggered opening approach will allow completed sections to be progressively opened while construction work continues on other portions of the major infrastructure initiative. Dr Gunsalam outlined the timeline during recent discussions on the project's advancement, emphasizing the government's commitment to delivering the highway in phases rather than awaiting full completion. The Pan Borneo Highway is a critical transport corridor linking Sabah's major towns and economic zones, with the phased opening strategy designed to provide immediate benefits to road users while construction work progresses on outstanding sections. The project represents a significant investment in improving connectivity and supporting economic development across the state.
