Eight service sectors show double-digit growth in June, ISP data shows

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation released the Index of Services Production (ISP) for June on a trial basis, covering 19 service sub-sectors with a base year of 2024-25. The index revealed that eight categories achieved double-digit growth during the month, with nearly all sectors recording positive annual expansion.

Real estate emerged as the strongest performer, expanding 24.7 per cent year-on-year, followed by retail trade at 18.0 per cent and wholesale trade at 15.1 per cent. Administrative and support services grew 14.4 per cent, while information technology and computer-related services expanded 13.5 per cent.

Air transport represented the sole underperformer, declining 6 per cent, while all other tracked sectors posted positive growth. The broad-based expansion across the services index suggests sustained economic activity in the tertiary sector amid ongoing recovery patterns.

The ISP is being published on an experimental monthly basis, with the inaugural trial release for April appearing in mid-July. The statistics ministry indicated that regular monthly publications would continue as the initiative progresses.
