A senior citizen identified by the alias "Jing" was taken into custody during a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Silal, Payao town, Zamboanga Sibugay, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Region 9 (PDEA-9).
Agents seized approximately P340,000 worth of suspected shabu from the suspect during the controlled purchase, regional director Bryan Babang said. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug networks operating across the province.
The suspect, a resident of the area, is now facing charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The PDEA-9 has intensified operations targeting mid-to high-level drug personalities in the region as part of the government's broader anti-narcotics campaign.
Details regarding the suspect's background and any potential links to larger drug organizations remain under investigation. Authorities continue to appeal to the public for information on drug-related activities in their communities.
