A tragedy unfolded in Parshurampur village, within Saran district's Amanour police jurisdiction, when an Indian Air Force helicopter conducting relief operations for flood-affected residents inadvertently caused loss of life. A packet of dry rations being dropped from the aircraft struck 60-year-old Anil Kumar Singh, locally known as Appu Singh, resulting in his death on the spot.
The helicopter had been tasked with delivering critical supplies to residents stranded by flooding in the region. However, the incident during the aid distribution operation highlighted the risks associated with aerial relief efforts in disaster-affected areas.
Following Singh's death, outraged villagers registered their protest by placing the deceased's body on the road and blocking traffic at the site. The demonstration disrupted movement in the area until local police officials and district administration representatives arrived and persuaded the residents to disperse.
The exact circumstances surrounding the package drop and whether safety protocols were fully observed remain unclear. Authorities have not yet issued a detailed statement regarding the incident or any subsequent investigation into what transpired.
