Elderly pedestrian dies after minibus collision on PIE expressway

A senior citizen lost his life in a fatal traffic incident on the Pan-Island Expressway after being struck by a minibus on Wednesday. The 77-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Police responded to the accident after receiving reports of the collision. The minibus driver, however, had left the scene prior to law enforcement's arrival, prompting investigators to launch a manhunt.

The driver was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident. Authorities did not immediately disclose additional details regarding the circumstances of the accident or potential charges to be filed.

The fatality marks another traffic-related death on Singapore's expressway network. The Pan-Island Expressway remains one of the country's busiest routes, linking the east and west coasts of the island.
