Election Commission allows enrolled voters to file inclusion forms
The Election Commission has opened a window for previously registered voters whose names are absent from draft electoral rolls to seek inclusion through Form 6 submissions. The move aims to ensure comprehensive voter representation ahead of upcoming elections.

The Election Commission announced on Tuesday that voters who were previously enrolled but find their names missing from draft Special Intensive Revision (SIR) rolls can now submit Form 6 to secure their inclusion as electors.
Form 6, formally titled 'Application for Inclusion of Name in the Electoral Roll,' provides a mechanism for eligible citizens to petition for reinstatement on electoral rolls when administrative oversights occur. The commission's directive specifically targets those with established voter history whose names have been inadvertently omitted during the revision process.
The Special Intensive Revision represents a comprehensive periodic update of electoral rolls undertaken by poll authorities to maintain accuracy and remove duplicate or deceased entries. However, such exercises occasionally result in the removal of legitimate voters, necessitating provisions for correction and reinstatement.
Voters affected by such omissions are advised to submit their Form 6 applications along with supporting documentation establishing their eligibility and prior voter status. The Election Commission has not specified a deadline for submissions, though citizens are generally encouraged to file such applications at the earliest convenience to ensure processing before electoral rolls are finalized.
The announcement reinforces the commission's commitment to maintaining inclusive and accurate electoral rolls while providing administrative recourse for disenfranchised voters to restore their voting rights through established legal procedures.
