Election Commission allows Form 6 submissions for voters missing from draft rolls
The Election Commission of India has clarified that previously registered voters whose names are absent from draft Supplementary Voter Rolls can file Form 6 to secure inclusion in the final electoral list.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued fresh guidelines permitting voters to submit Form 6 applications if their names fail to appear in the draft Supplementary Voter Rolls (SIR) ahead of upcoming elections.
The clarification addresses concerns among eligible citizens who discovered their names missing from the preliminary voter rolls despite being previously enrolled. Form 6, officially known as the application for inclusion of name in the electoral roll, serves as the mechanism for such voters to seek fresh registration or reinstatement.
According to the ECI directive, citizens whose names do not feature in the draft SIR rolls can lodge Form 6 applications to ensure their inclusion before the final voters' list is published. The move aims to prevent disenfranchisement and ensure comprehensive voter participation in the electoral process.
The commission has advised election officials to process these applications promptly to maintain the electoral timeline. Voters are encouraged to verify their names in the draft rolls and submit required documentation along with their Form 6 applications within the specified deadline.
This clarification assumes added significance as multiple constituencies have reported discrepancies in voter rolls, with several previously registered voters finding themselves excluded from draft supplementary lists circulated for public scrutiny.
