Election Commission issues notices to Telangana celebrities under SIR process

The Election Commission has cast a wide net across Telangana's entertainment and sports fraternity, issuing notices to prominent figures including actor Mahesh Babu, ace filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, badminton champion Saina Nehwal, and former cricketer V.V.S. Laxman as part of its Special Summary Revision (SIR) process in Hyderabad.

The notices are part of the Commission's routine electoral roll verification and correction procedure. The SIR process aims to identify and address discrepancies in voter registrations, including duplicate entries, incorrect addresses, and other data anomalies.

Beyond the marquee names, the notice list also includes actors Namrata Shirodkar and Vijay Deverakonda, athlete Pullela Gopichand, cricketer Mitali Raj, actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Venkatessh Daggubati, and Upasana Konidela. The notices typically require recipients to verify their electoral registration details and respond with necessary documentation.
