The Election Commission of India will conduct a targeted registration campaign in Tamil Nadu's Villupuram district to include voters who have been excluded from electoral rolls. The drive will employ specific documentation procedures based on the registration phase.

The Election Commission of India has announced a special enrolment initiative to register left-out electors in Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu. According to District Election Officer and Collector Sheik Abdul Rahman, the drive aims to ensure comprehensive voter participation by identifying and registering eligible citizens who remain off the electoral rolls.
The registration process will employ distinct documentation requirements depending on the phase of implementation. During the Systematic Inclusive Revision (SIR) phase, officials will utilise the Declaration Form accompanying Form 6 for voter enrolment. This specialised form streamlines the registration process during the intensive revision period.
For applications submitted outside the SIR period, the Election Commission will revert to standard procedures outlined in the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. These conventional forms ensure consistency with established electoral registration protocols and legal frameworks governing voter enrolment.
The two-track approach allows the Election Commission to balance the need for rapid enrolment during dedicated revision periods with adherence to regulatory requirements during regular registration intervals. Officials have indicated the special drive reflects efforts to maximise electoral participation and maintain accurate, up-to-date voter databases across the district.
