Election Commission says all commissioners unanimously approved Form-6 orders

Sources within the Election Commission said Wednesday that all commissioners had unanimously sanctioned the SIR (Statutory Instructions and Rules) orders pertaining to Form-6, the official voter registration document used during electoral processes across India.
The clarification comes as debate continues over modifications to Form-6 procedures. The Election Commission stated that rather than altering the form's core structure, authorities added a separate declaration sheet—Annexure-D—to accompany Form-6 submissions from new voters.
"No changes have been made to Form-6 itself," the commission said in its statement. "The addition of Annexure-D is a supplementary measure designed to streamline the registration process for newly eligible voters."
The Election Commission's assertion of unanimous approval among commissioners appears aimed at reinforcing the legitimacy of the procedural modifications and countering suggestions that the changes were made unilaterally or without proper institutional consensus.
