Electoral Commission receives 126 objections to Sarawak boundary redistribution
Malaysia's Electoral Commission has received 126 objections to a proposed redistricting exercise in Sarawak, with only seven submissions of support for the review recommendations.

The Electoral Commission of Malaysia (SPR) has concluded its public consultation period on the proposed boundary redistribution for Sarawak constituencies, recording significantly more opposition than backing for the proposed changes.
The commission received 126 formal objections to the redistricting recommendations during the consultation phase, substantially outweighing the seven letters of support submitted by the deadline. The figures underscore public concern about the planned electoral boundary adjustments in the East Malaysian state.
Boundary redistribution exercises are periodically undertaken by the Electoral Commission to ensure electoral constituencies remain balanced in terms of voter population and geographical representation. However, such exercises frequently attract objections from political parties, civil society groups, and individual voters who may perceive the changes as disadvantageous to their interests or as potentially affecting electoral competitiveness.
The Electoral Commission is expected to review all objections and submissions received during the consultation period before finalising its recommendations. This feedback from the public consultation will inform any modifications to the proposed boundary changes before they are formally implemented.
