The Enabling Sports Fund has opened its second grants call as it builds momentum in supporting adaptive sports across the region, with SportSG inviting applications between August 1 and 31.
Since its inception earlier this year, the fund has approved support for 21 proposals aimed at making sports more accessible to people with disabilities. Among the initiatives gaining traction are tennis programmes tailored specifically for the visually impaired community, addressing a significant gap in recreational and competitive opportunities for this demographic.
The fund represents a concerted effort to break down barriers to sports participation, recognising that adaptive athletes often face infrastructure, coaching, and resource constraints. By channelling dedicated grant support, the initiative seeks to create sustainable pathways for disabled individuals to engage in meaningful athletic pursuits.
Interested organisations are encouraged to submit proposals during the current window, with SportSG providing guidance on eligibility criteria and application procedures. The expanded second round signals growing momentum in the adaptive sports sector, with potential to scale successful pilot programmes across Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian region.
The fund's focus on inclusive sports infrastructure aligns with broader regional efforts to promote health and wellbeing among underrepresented communities, positioning adaptive sports as a mainstream priority rather than a peripheral concern.
