The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has rolled out a WhatsApp-based service designed to simplify access to provident fund account details for millions of Indian workers. The facility allows subscribers to check their PF balance and download their digital passbooks through the messaging platform, removing the need for multiple verification steps or website navigation.
Under the new service, members can conveniently track their five most recent account transactions directly through WhatsApp. This real-time access to transaction history enables subscribers to monitor contributions, withdrawals, and fund transfers without logging into the EPFO portal or visiting service centres.
The WhatsApp facility extends beyond basic account information, providing support for queries related to the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, the government's employment-linked incentive scheme. This integration aims to streamline assistance delivery for eligible workers seeking information about the scheme benefits and application procedures.
The initiative reflects EPFO's push to modernise its service delivery mechanisms through widely-used digital platforms. With WhatsApp's extensive user base across India, the service is expected to improve accessibility for the organisation's vast subscriber base, particularly benefiting workers in smaller towns and rural areas with limited internet connectivity.
Subscribers interested in utilising the service are advised to visit the EPFO's official channels for the specific WhatsApp number and detailed instructions on account verification and service activation.
