EPFO launches WhatsApp service for provident fund account management

The EPFO has rolled out a WhatsApp messaging service designed to simplify access to provident fund account information for its subscribers across India. Members can now use the messaging platform to retrieve their current PF balance, view their digital passbook, and access details of their latest five transactions without visiting EPFO offices or logging into online portals.

The facility streamlines account management for India's vast workforce relying on provident fund schemes for retirement savings. Subscribers can initiate queries through WhatsApp at their convenience, reducing dependency on traditional administrative channels and enabling real-time information access.

In addition to standard account inquiries, the service extends support for the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana, a government pension scheme for senior citizens. The platform will also facilitate automatic settlement of inactive accounts for members meeting eligibility criteria, further reducing procedural delays.

The EPFO's digital expansion reflects broader efforts to modernise India's social security infrastructure. By leveraging WhatsApp's widespread adoption across the country, the organisation aims to enhance accessibility and transparency in provident fund administration, particularly for subscribers in remote areas with limited digital literacy or internet access challenges.

The service represents the latest step in the EPFO's technology-driven initiatives to make retirement savings management more convenient and user-friendly for millions of Indian workers.
