Ericsson plans to export antennas produced at its Indian manufacturing facilities to Europe, according to Andres Vicente, Senior Vice President and Head of Market Area South East Asia, Oceania, and India. Vicente highlighted the strategic advantage India has gained through its accelerated 5G rollout, which has achieved mid-band coverage reaching 95 per cent of the population—double the global average of 45 per cent.
Speaking at the India Mobile Congress 2026, Vicente noted that India's head start in 5G infrastructure development has positioned the nation favorably for the transition to 6G technology. He emphasized that establishing the correct architectural foundations represents the most challenging phase of network evolution, a phase India has already successfully completed through its rapid 5G deployment.
Ericsson's deepening commitment to India reflects the company's long-standing presence in the country. The Swedish manufacturer began operations in India in 1903 and became the first company to establish local manufacturing facilities in 1994. Today, the company produces the full range of 4G and 5G radio equipment deployed across Indian telecom networks, supporting the infrastructure that has enabled the country's exceptional network coverage and technological advancement.
