Escorts Kubota tractor sales decline 10% in October amid industry headwinds

Escorts Kubota Ltd's tractor sales slumped 10 per cent year-on-year in October, with the company dispatching 16,921 units compared to 18,798 units in the corresponding month last year, the company disclosed on Sunday.

Domestic sales bore the brunt of the slowdown, declining 10.9 per cent to 16,412 tractors from 18,423 units in October 2025. The contraction in the home market outpaced the overall sales decline, indicating intensifying pressure on domestic demand. However, export performance bucked the broader trend, with overseas shipments surging 35.7 per cent to 509 units against 375 units in the year-ago period.

The company attributed the domestic slowdown to multiple headwinds. A high comparison base from the previous year, a shift in the timing of festive season demand, and disruptions linked to monsoon weather patterns all weighed on October sales. These seasonal and climatic factors are expected to persist through the current quarter.

Looking ahead, Escorts Kubota cautioned that elevated input costs stemming from geopolitical developments, coupled with consequent price increases, may further temper customer demand in the near term. The company's commentary reflects broader concerns across the tractor industry regarding cost pressures and their potential impact on end-user purchasing decisions.
