Estonia accuses Russia of arson attack on defence contractor

Estonia's government has formally accused Russia of responsibility for a fire at a domestic defence manufacturer that supplies military equipment to Ukrainian forces, marking the latest in a series of suspected sabotage incidents targeting NATO allies.

The arson attack underscores growing concerns among European officials that Moscow is conducting a coordinated campaign of industrial sabotage and infrastructure damage across multiple NATO member states. These countries have provided varying levels of military and financial support to Ukraine since Russia's 2022 invasion.

Estonian investigators determined that the fire was deliberately set, prompting officials to attribute the incident to Russian intelligence operations. The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the region and represents a significant escalation in hybrid warfare tactics employed by Moscow against the Western alliance.

NATO members have previously reported suspicious fires, cable cuts, and other incidents at critical infrastructure sites.
