Ethiopia levies fresh accusations against Sudan, Egypt over Tigray conflict
Addis Ababa has accused Sudan and Egypt of providing military support to Tigray rebel forces as fighting persists in the Horn of Africa nation. Sudan's military has denied the allegations while countering that a rival paramilitary force is receiving backing from within Ethiopian territory.

Ethiopia has escalated diplomatic tensions by formally accusing neighboring Sudan and Egypt of supplying weapons and military assistance to Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) fighters, reigniting a conflict that has claimed thousands of lives since late 2020.
The allegations come as violence continues to flare across northern Ethiopia, despite a ceasefire agreement signed last year. Addis Ababa has provided no public evidence to support the claims against Sudan and Egypt, both regional powers with their own strategic interests in the volatile region.
Sudan's military establishment has firmly rejected the accusations of backing Tigray forces. Instead, Khartoum has redirected blame toward Ethiopia, asserting that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)—a paramilitary group locked in its own power struggle against Sudan's armed forces—is receiving logistical support and safe haven from inside Ethiopia's borders.
The recriminations underscore the complex web of proxy conflicts and external interventions that have characterized the broader instability across the Horn of Africa. Both Ethiopia and Sudan have accused each other of destabilizing activities amid their own internal power struggles, complicating international peace efforts.
