European Council President Antonio Costa has called on international allies to strengthen their position against Russia in response to the latest attack on Ukrainian infrastructure. The statement underscores the EU's commitment to maintaining coordinated pressure on Moscow as the conflict continues to devastate civilian areas across Ukraine.
Costa emphasised that the European bloc remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine, signalling that diplomatic and economic measures will persist until a just and sustainable peace agreement can be negotiated. The remarks reflect growing concern among EU member states over the humanitarian toll of the ongoing conflict and the targeting of civilian infrastructure.
The attack on the train station represents another escalation in Russia's campaign against Ukrainian cities and transportation networks. EU officials have repeatedly condemned such strikes as violations of international humanitarian law and have urged the international community to hold Moscow accountable.
The statement comes as European governments continue to coordinate with Western allies on economic sanctions, military aid, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. EU leaders have indicated that any resolution to the conflict must address legitimate Ukrainian security concerns and respect principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
