European business confidence in Vietnam hits seven-year peak

European Chamber of Commerce survey data shows business confidence in Vietnam remained robust in the third quarter, with the Business Confidence Index holding steady at 78.3 points. The reading reflects sustained optimism about Vietnam's investment prospects despite global economic headwinds.

According to the latest assessment, 64 percent of surveyed European business leaders rated their current operating conditions as good or very good. This positive outlook underscores Vietnam's continued appeal as a manufacturing and investment destination in Southeast Asia.

Yet the survey also revealed a degree of caution among respondents. Twenty-eight percent of businesses adopted a neutral or wait-and-see stance, citing concerns about flat international demand and uncertainty over the pace of policy reforms. European investors signaled they would welcome faster implementation of business procedures and more predictable regulatory environments to unlock faster growth.

The mixed sentiment reflects a broader pattern among foreign investors in Vietnam: recognition of the country's long-term structural advantages tempered by near-term macroeconomic uncertainties and policy execution risks. European businesses remain committed to Vietnam but are closely monitoring whether government initiatives translate into tangible operational improvements.
