European leaders call on Israel to abandon West Bank settlement expansion

Prominent European leaders have issued fresh demands for Israel to abandon the E1 settlement expansion project, citing concerns over its impact on peace prospects and Palestinian territorial integrity. The initiative, which received Israeli approval in the preceding year, would expand construction in a strategic corridor between Jerusalem and the Dead Sea, effectively deepening the physical separation between East Jerusalem and the broader West Bank.
The project has become a focal point of international opposition, with critics arguing it undermines the viability of a future Palestinian state and violates international law regarding settlements on occupied territory.
