European security chiefs warn of rising Russian covert operations

Senior European intelligence officials have raised fresh alarms over what they describe as a widening shadow war orchestrated by Russia across the continent. The concerns stem from a series of incidents and intelligence assessments suggesting that Moscow is expanding its unconventional warfare tactics beyond Ukraine's borders, targeting critical infrastructure, communications networks, and military installations across multiple European states.

The shift in Russian strategy reflects efforts to stretch European resources and sow instability at a time when NATO and EU member states are heavily focused on supporting Ukraine's defence.
