Everton advances to League Cup quarter-finals after Newcastle victory

Everton progressed to the quarter-finals of the League Cup following their victory over Newcastle United in the previous round. The result keeps the club's hopes alive in one of English football's traditional domestic competitions.

Everton's next opponent will be Fleetwood Town, a remarkable achievement for the lower-league side. Fleetwood stunned the football establishment by eliminating Arsenal, the current Premier League champions, from the tournament in an earlier round.

The quarter-final matchup represents an intriguing clash between a top-flight club and a team from the lower divisions. Fleetwood's giant-killing performance has captured attention across English football, while Everton will be favourites to progress further in the competition.

The League Cup quarter-finals will determine which teams advance toward the semi-final stages of the domestic knockout tournament. Everton's progression continues their pursuit of silverware as they look to lift the trophy this season.
