TACLOBAN CITY — Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) has temporarily suspended its mandatory uniform policy as a measure to safeguard students and staff amid extreme heat conditions affecting the region.
The decision was formalized through Memorandum No. 09-06-2026, issued by the Office of the University President, allowing students to forgo their regular uniforms during the period of severe weather.
The heat-relief initiative extends beyond uniform policy adjustments. The mayor of Carigara, Leyte, has reallocated funds from his office's travel and seminar budget to procure air-cooling units for campus classrooms, addressing concerns about indoor learning conditions.
The measures reflect growing institutional responses to intensifying heat conditions across the Eastern Visayas region, where temperatures have created challenges for educational operations and student welfare.
