Ex-British diplomat runs global marathons to fund Pakistan education drive

Mike Nithavrianakis, who served as a British diplomat in Pakistan, has launched an ambitious fundraising effort through marathon participation to address the country's education crisis. His initiative targets The Citizens Foundation, a prominent non-profit organisation working to expand educational access to Pakistan's most marginalised communities.

The campaign seeks to raise one million dollars to significantly enhance educational opportunities for disadvantaged students. The funds collected will provide comprehensive academic support to approximately six thousand students throughout an entire academic year, enabling them to access quality schooling that would otherwise remain beyond their reach.

Having already accumulated more than $350,000 through his efforts, Nithavrianakis has successfully funded the establishment of a new educational campus in Pakistan. The project addresses a critical gap in the country's educational infrastructure, where an estimated 25.2 million children remain out of school.

Nithavrianakis has attributed his commitment to the cause to his observations during his diplomatic tenure in Pakistan, where he witnessed firsthand the stark educational inequalities affecting the nation's youth. His global marathon initiative represents a sustained personal effort to translate that awareness into tangible educational outcomes for underprivileged communities across the region.
