Ex-DMK ministers' cases grounded in evidence, not politics: Law Minister

Tamil Nadu Law Minister Nirmal Kumar rejected suggestions that prosecutions against former DMK ministers constitute political vendetta, emphasising instead that legal proceedings are anchored in concrete evidence and formal complaints from affected parties.

According to Kumar, the allegations involve systematic irregularities in fund collection from educational institutions. Multiple schools have lodged formal complaints alleging that money was improperly collected, with investigations uncovering alleged corruption totalling approximately ₹400 crore.

The minister stressed that the cases stem from specific grievances filed by schools and substantive documentation of misconduct, rather than partisan motivations. He indicated that the evidence gathered during investigations provides a factual basis for the legal action initiated against the former officials.

The development comes as the DMK government transitions to a new administration in the state, with ongoing scrutiny of financial irregularities from the preceding period.
