Ex-Serviceman Steals Arms Cache from Telangana Military Facility

A retired military man has been accused of orchestrating an audacious theft at a cantonment armoury in Telangana, making off with a substantial cache of weapons in the early hours of August 29.

According to investigators, the suspect circumvented security measures and forcibly opened the armoury lock under cover of darkness. The breach yielded 12 firearms, comprising AK-series assault rifles and INSAS rifles, along with ammunition stores.

Following the heist, the accused allegedly concealed the stolen weapons in dense vegetation near the cantonment, apparently to evade immediate detection. The use of a motorised two-wheeler to access the heavily secured facility has raised questions about the adequacy of perimeter security at the military installation.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to recover the missing weapons and determine whether the theft was an isolated incident or part of a larger operation. The incident underscores persistent security concerns at defence establishments across the region.
