The former chief executive officer of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) arrived at the courthouse in Putrajaya on Wednesday as part of proceedings related to the RCI investigation into the fund's management and financial dealings. The appearance comes as authorities continue their examination of governance and operational issues at the pilgrimage savings institution, which manages funds for Malaysian Muslims undertaking the hajj. The remand hearing represents an escalation in the formal investigation process as authorities seek to clarify matters raised during the inquiry. TH, established in 1963, is mandated to facilitate and assist Muslims in Malaysia to perform the pilgrimage to Mecca. The RCI was established to investigate concerns surrounding the fund's investments, internal controls, and administrative practices that had drawn public scrutiny in recent years. The court proceeding underscores ongoing efforts by Malaysian authorities to examine the stewardship of one of the nation's largest religious financial institutions.
