Excise Department officials carried out the operation on September 21 after receiving a tip-off regarding the clandestine venue's activities. The raid was coordinated through the Superintendent's Office of the Bureau of Excise Special Operations Narcotic Unit in Colombo, which oversees enforcement operations targeting illegal establishments.
The covert nightclub had been operating without authorization in the densely populated Kompanna Vidiya locality. Investigators did not disclose further details regarding the establishment's operations or the circumstances that prompted the initial report to authorities.
The action marks part of ongoing efforts by the Excise Department to identify and shut down unlicensed entertainment venues across the capital.
