The 2026 F1 Singapore Grand Prix has been exempted from the Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS), allowing spectators to purchase regulated beverage containers without paying the compulsory 10-cent deposit within the Circuit Park.
The National Environment Agency announced the exemption, which applies specifically to beverages sold at the event venue. This measure is intended to streamline the spectator experience during the high-profile motorsports event held annually in Singapore.
The BCRS, which came into effect to encourage beverage container recycling and reduce single-use plastic waste, typically requires consumers to pay a 10-cent deposit on drinks sold in regulated containers. The deposit is refundable when containers are returned to designated collection points.
The exemption for the 2026 Grand Prix reflects considerations for the logistics and operational challenges of managing large-scale events with significant foot traffic. Event organisers will continue to implement their own waste management and sustainability measures during the race weekend.
